MIDLAND VETS 2015 AGM and PRIZE GIVING

Balbirnie Golf Club played host to the SVLGA Midland Division AGM, Prize Giving and Lunch today. Fifty one ladies gathered from Perth and Kinross, Fife and Stirling and Clackmananshire. Out going Captain Bev Brown welcomed everyone and the meeting got underway. Reports were given by Captain Bev Brown, Honourary Secretary Sandy Bushby and Treasurer Meriel Walker. Shelagh Quinn(Stirling) was elected as the new Captain and her Vice Captain will be Lizee McGraw(Auchterarder). Sandy Bushby stood down as Secretary after three years and Margaret Hunter(Blairgowrie) was elected to the role. Linda McAinsh came to the end of her term on the committee and Lyn Fleming(Glenbervie) has taken over as the SC representative. At the end of the proceedings a very kind vote of thanks was given by Midland 2015 Champion Fiona deVries.

SVLGA BLAIRGOWRIE EVENT RESULTS

The Autumn Meeting at Alloa had sixty ladies participating. The weather was kind to us for a change and we managed to get round dry. The course provided a great challenge to everyone resulting in the  completion being Reduction Only (75). There were cheers all round when this was announced at end of play! CONGRATULATIONS TO MIDLAND MEMBERS

Congratulations to Lorna Bennett, Fiona de Vries & Lorna McKinlay on being selected to represent Scotland in the Veteran Ladies Golf Association Jamboree at Sherwood Forest G.C. from 4 - 6 August.


Further congratulations to Fiona de Vries & Lorna McKinlay on being selected for the Scotland team to play in the European Senior Women's Championship in Lithuania from 1 -5 September.

 

RESULTS STABLEFORD GREENSOMES MURRAYSHALL 27TH JULY 2015

It was a very wet day today when eighty six ladies came to play the Stableford Greensomes at Murrayshall. The rain never stopped and the greens were very difficult to putt on with all the standing water. The greens staff did their best and tried to clear the greens throughout the day but putting was still a challenge. The scores did reflect the conditions. They can be viewed on the Handicapmaster link on the right. The top three scores were as follows:

MIDLAND MEMBER AILEEN BAKER MAKES IT TO HANDICAP FINAL AT POWFOOT

Well done to new Midland member Aileen Baker (Crail) who made her way to the finals of Scottish senior women's Handicap Match-Play Championship at Powfoot. She unfortunately was beaten by Karen Maxwell of Milgavie 3 and 2.

RESULTS SLGA SENIOR WOMEN'S STROKE-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP AT POWFOOT

The Scottish Seniors Stroke-Play Championship was played at Powfoot Golf Club on Tuesday and Wednesday. The winner with an under par two round total 145 was Martine Pow of Selkirk. Congratulations to Midland members Lorna McKinlay (3rd), Karen Burns (4th), Margaret Tough (5th), Fiona De Vries (6th) and Linda Dyball (7th). They have all qualified for the scratch match play. Gillian Wallace, Christine Steedman, Lyn Fleming, Aileen Baker and Karen Ballantyne qualified for the handicap competition. We wish them all good luck for the morning round.

RESULTS MIDLAND CHAMPIONSHIP CRAIL

The semi finals & final were played in benign conditions yesterday on the Craighead Links at Crail. All three matches saw low scoring with 6 birdies and an eagle in the final. The final was nip and tuck with the lead changing hands frequently until Fiona went 2 up at the 16th and closed out the match on the 17th.

73 ladies played in unusually calm conditions on Craighead Links at Crail today. Many had not played the course before but the consensus was favourable and all agreed that the view from the club house was spectacular.

SUMMER MEETING AND CHAMPIONSHIP 15TH JUNE

Just a wee reminder that the Summer Meeting and Championship will be taking place at Crail on the Craighead Course on the 15th and 16th of June. If you have not already entered, then please do so by the 6th of June. The closing date has been brought forward a few days. The draw will be made on the 7th of June and will be in handicap order which means we can't accommodate travelling requests. We look forward to seeing everyone there and hope for some super golfing weather.

MIDLAND VS NORTH AT BLAIRGOWRIE

Northern Vets hosted Midland Vets yesterday in their annual inter-divisional match over the Rosemount course at Blairgowrie. The teams found the course in excellent condition and look forward to the return match at Blairgowrie next year. The weather, although rather cool initially, was good with a light easterly breeze. Good fellowship was enjoyed post match over an excellent meal. Midland Vets retained the trophy with a 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win. Individual results were as follows -

SPRING MEETING STRATHMORE

It was a beautful sunny day for the first Midland event of the season. Ninety ladies made their way to Strathmore Golf Club in Perthshire to play in the Spring Meeting. The course was in great condition and all the ladies said they enjoyed playing it. The overall nett winner of the Allan Trophy was Lizzee McGraw of Auchterarder who shot a nett 72. The scratch winner was LornaMcKinley of Dunnikier Park who shot a gross 77 debut round as a new member. The full results are available if you click MASTER SCOREBOARD on the right.
